Health (Current Events): Citing Your Sources

Guide to help find current event articles for Health and cite them in APA

APA (American Psychological Association)

APA is a common formatting style for essays and papers in the social sciences.  APA style has unique formats for in-text citations (parenthetical) and reference page citations.  Both in-text and reference page citations are necessary; if you use one, you will need the other.

  • In-text citations: Where you cite a source in the body of your paper after you quote or paraphrase.
  • Reference page citations: A final list of all of your sources at the end of your paper

A citation is "the way you tell your readers that certain material in your work came from another source. It also gives your readers the information necessary to find that source again, including:"

  • information about the author
  • the title of the work
  • the name and location of the company that published your copy of the source
  • the date your copy was published
  • the page numbers of the material you are borrowing ("What's a Citation?," 2014)
